The mission team was supposed to depart at 6 am on Thursday, Feb 1st. We were to arrive in Nairobi on Friday evening and be in Meru by noon on Saturday. This would have given us time to get the library set up over the weekend (i.e., be ready for the volunteers when they arrived on Monday morning).
However, our flight was cancelled due to an ice storm and we didn;t take off until Saturday. We arrived in Nairobi at 7 am on Monday and didn't get to Meru until late Monday afternoon.
As you can imagine, Tuesday morning was pretty chaotic with lots of volunteers asking, "What can I do?" and no work plan in place yet!
(First rule of mission trips: Be flexible!)
